I wasn't planing on having a Halloween costume this year...

Greetings fellow bacon lovers!

I LOVED Halloween growing up as a kid.  One of the reasons was obviously, getting the candy but the other reason was my mom.  My mom, being the creative genius she is, ALWAYS made my costumes.  Over the years, I've gone as a lion, Elvis, a Dwarf(from Snow White) "Herbie Husker", mascot of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and many more.

My church resurrected a Halloween party this year, and I originally wasn't going to go in costume.  I was going to just find a Halloween shirt at Walmart and call it good.

Until, that is, till I went down the costume aisle and Mom's genius struck again.

I showed up at the Halloween party as(and of course, this is the perfect tie in to this blog):

Yup, I showed up like this and said "I am the Bacon Monster."

People LOVED it.  People were taking pictures of me in it and I felt like a kid again!

So have you ever dressed up as a favorite food for Halloween? Or any food for that matter?

Nice! Maple Flavored Bacon jerky review

Greetings bacon lovers!

The Bacon Monster fan Tiffany alerted me to Nice! brand Maple Flavored bacon jerky so, Tiffany, this review is for you!

I have really gotten to enjoy bacon jerky lately.  I really do prefer it to beef jerky, mainly because I it doesn't taste like shoe leather or taste like you're trying to eat a shoe.

Enter Nice! brand Maple Flavored bacon jerky, available at Walgreens.

The bacon jerky comes n a 3 ounce container.  110 calories, 6 grams of fat, 2 grams of saturated fat, 30 mg of cholestorol, 530 mg of sodium, 4 grams of carbs, 10 grams of protein.

How does it taste?  Really good, a nice hint of maple flavor.  It feels a bit...I don't want to call it slimy but you can definitely tell they added something to the strips to add the maple flavoring but not bad, considering.

A really great and tasty bacon product.

Review and demo: Idahoan Applewood Smoked Bacon Mashed Potatoes

Greetings fellow bacon lovers!

So I know it's a product not entirely made of bacon but last time I went grocery shopping I figured I needed to give it a go.

Enter Idahoan Applewood Smoked Bacon flavored mashed potatoes.

So let's take 2 cups of water:

Put it in a pot:
Put it to a boil:

And when little pot is done boiling, add the mashed potatoes, turn off the heat, give them a good stir and let them sit 1 minute.

Then you have your finished product:

Idahoan did an excellent job(and I suspect they used real bacon but I didn't look at the ingredients) capturing the bacon flavor because the pieces of bacon in the mashed potatoes really and tasted like real bacon and not bacon bitx.

Idahoan mashed potatoes come in a variety of flavors and are available at most major grocery stores.

Sorry, I have been away for a while, so let's talk about pre-cooked bacon!

Greetings fellow bacon lovers!

I am very sorry I have been a bad little bacon monster and not been bacon blogging in quite a while.  I have had a lot of things come up lately(work, close people to me passing away, etc.)

Anyway, I've been intrigued in pre-cooked bacon.

Now, I'm sure you're thinking...a bacon blogger trying PRE-COOKED bacon? Blasphemy!

It's actually quite good.

I used Oscar Mayer but a lot of companies have pre-cooked bacon.  Just pop in the microwave and voila!

Tastes just as good and it's usuable for sandwiches, recipes, anything.

Expect a full on test of two brands of pre-cooked very soon!

Question: What is your favorite brand of bacon? I like Oscar Mayer and Corn King.

Happy Baconing and thanks for reading!
